A complete suspension lead or lead alloy weight, of uncertain dating but probably Post medieval (AD 1500 to AD 1900).
The lead weight is cylindrical, with one end narrowed to form a blunt point. The other end is flat, with V shaped grooves cut on opposing sides, to create a notch. A circular suspension hole sits within the notch. It has an internal diameter of 3.4 mm.
It measures 62.5 mm in length and a diameter of 11.8 mm. It weighs 49.2 g.
The weight is an off white colour, with an even surface patina. Scratch and groove marks are present, but these are not in any alignment and likely to be the result of damage whilst within the plough soil.
