An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy double-looped buckle (c. 1550-c. 1650).

The pin is missing.

The frame is convex at the front and flat at the rear. Each loop is 'D'-shaped in plan and similar in size. Both outer edges are ornate at the front and decoration includes a stylised rosette motif at the centre. The bar is triangular in cross-section, flat at the rear and has a knop at either end.

This buckle frame is corroded and has traces of black lacquer at the front and rear

Length: 48.9mm; width: 35.4mm; thickness: 3.2mm. Weight: 10.21g.

A similar buckle has been published (Whitehead 2003: 66, ref: 409).
