Incomplete cast copper alloy rectangular buckle dating from the Post-Medieval period. The pin is missing. There are diamond knops on each angle of the frame and bifid knops on the outer edges of frame and at either end of the strap bar. The stumps of the integral strap bar remains just inside the frame. There are patches of tinning on the front and back of the frame which have corroded to a black layer. The rest of the frame has a light green patina and is corroded. There is no visible decoration.
Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar buckle on page 79, no.488 which is dated from 1600-1700.
