Two probably medieval lead weights, both in rather worn condition:
- flat with four concave sides and a central round perforation (diameter 1.5mm). 18 x 17.5 x 2.5mm. Weight 4.02g / 62 grains / 2.59 pennyweights. Cf. three 'hide'-shaped weights from London, two for 3 and 6 pennyweights and one possibly for an apothecaries' drachm (Egan 1998, nos. 1027-9). In view of the degree of weight loss through abrasion, the obejct was probably for 3 pennyweights (= 72 grains) and not overweight for 1 drachm (= 60 grains). 13th - 14th century.
- irregular four-sided pyramical with chamfers along three angles and, in the centre of the base, arough blind hole. Base 20 x 16,3mm. Height 19mm. Weight 25.30g / 390.6 grains / 0.8925 ounce avoirdupois. Perhaps for 1oz. 14th - 15th century.
