An incomplete copper alloy enameled zoomorphic Roman brooch. The brooch depicts a sitting cockerel with feathers fluffed out and tail feathers raised. There is some damage to the brooch across the back of the bird behind the neck. The loop is placed at the base of the tail and about one third of of the pin remains the clasp end which would have been at the neck end, is missing. The wings are triangular cells along the edges of the wing and two pairs of crescentic cells on the hen's back. These cells have remnants of blue and possibly some red enamel. The head and neck are in good condition with a large round eye, protruberant beak, pendulous wattle and small crest.

The brooch is 36.7mm in length, maximum height is 21.3mm. It weighs 7.14 grams.

It is very similar to the brooch in Mackreth 2011, Vol 2, plate 126, no.14798.
