A cast incomplete and worn acorn shaped mount of 17th century date.

Description: The mount is roughly in the shape of the acorn with the cap having ha, the leaf or stem detail has snapped away. The front is slightly convex and the back is hollow/concave with tow integral drawn attachment lugs. One lug has entirely snapped away to the base, the top one is mostly missing but is still there. The mount is patinated green.

Measurements: 37.01mm long, 21.08mm wide, 5.9mm thick (inc lugs, 3.56 without) and 6.61g in weight.

Discussion: This type of mount is very popular during the 17th century and many of them have been reported to the PAS, Read (2001, 29) also illustrates several examples Nos. 331-334, the last of which is a very close example.
