A silver Roman Republican denarius of L. Aemilius Lepidus Paullus, c.62 BC. Reverse: Togate figure of L. Aemilius Paullus standing left touching trophy, to left King Perseus of Macedonia and his two sons captive, in exergue PAVLLVS. As Crawford 415/1, Syd. 926.

Notes:

Reverse commemorates the victory of L. Aemilius Paullus over King Perseus (shown with his two sons) at the Battle of Pydna in 168 BC. The moneyer L. Aemilius Lepidus Paulus (consul in 50 BC), brother of the triumvir Lepidus, claimed descendency from the above. He was the builder of the Basilica Aemilia in Rome.
