Fragment of a medieval copper-alloy book clasp of hinged type. The loop survives, with a central hole which would have fitted over a peg on the opposite cover of the book. The terminal is now missing, but the hinge loops on the other side of the loop survive, with a bar held between them. The metal is mid green in colour with a slightly pitted patina. The length is 18mm, the width is 16mm and the weight 2.87g.
Most examples of this object type appear to date to the 14th or 15th centuries.
