A lead alloy spindle whorl probably of medieval date. The object is circular in plan and bi-conical with a central circular perforation. The perforation has an internal diameter of 9mm Each face is decorated with worn moulded lines and pellets. The spindle whorl has a mid-white patina.

Dimensions: 21mm in diameter, 9mm thick, 11.9g

Similar examples of spindle whorls have reportedly been found in contexts dated from the Roman through to the Post-Medieval period although the majority are typically dated broadly to the medieval period c.1100-1500.
