Flint core. A long pyramidal core with a flat striking platform and the scars from the removal of long narrow parallel flakes and bladelets by unidirectional working. A pale grey patina overall may suggest subsequent exposure to a calcareous environment, while light rusty staining might hint this was gravel. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC.
