An incomplete medieval copper alloy stirrup-shaped finger ring. The ring rises from the shoulders into a pointed bezel that is sub-triangular in plan. The bezel contains a translucent red coloured stone or gem. The lower half of the ring is missing.
This form of finger-ring was most popular during the 13th century however the date range can stretch from c.1150-c.1500 (Egan and Pritchard 2002:326). Other similar artefacts examples on the database include LVPL-184278, FAKL-A987D7, WILT-7C366D and IOW-D92652. This form of ring also is known in gold such as HAMP-6EC8B4.
