An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman ear scoop dating to period AD 150- c.400.
The ear scoop comprises a circular sectioned long shank. One end of the ear scoop has an oval shaped concave bowl. This end has been bent. The other end has a rounded terminal. This end terminal is decorated with circumferential ribs, cast in light relief. The ear scoop is a green with an even surface patina.
The ear scoop measures 57.34mm in length, 8.19mm wide and 2.33mm thick. It weighs 1.39g.
A similar ear scoop is illustrated by Crummy, N. (1983), p. 60, no.1901.
