A cast copper alloy openwork stirrup mount dating from the 10th to 11th century AD. The mount has an anthropomorphic theme with the figure of a standing man in high relief, that figure then surrounded by probable zoomorphic serpents to each side. The man stands with spread arms and legs with a possible phallus or sword protruding beneath him. There is a possible second figure, diagonally across at waist level and behind the primary figure, it has a head to the right with outstretched arms and legs left. This figure may represent an anthropomorphic or perhaps, zoomorphic form.
The mount is imperfectly cast with three of the openwork sections not fully pierced. A suspension loop extends above the head and there is evidence of ferrous pins across the base which may be missing its angled edge. The surface has a dark brown-green patina with ferrous staining at the base. Williams Class A, Type 3 (Ref: Williams 1997, 36-38, fig 25). See DENO-102895Z for a similar type.
