A complete, copper alloy, Early Medieval, strap end, AD.750-1100. This is a Thomas Class B, Type 1 strap end. It comprises a narrow tapering triangular shape with a bluntly rounded terminal. The top of the strap end has two projections resembling the top of a heart shape, the lobes of which have been pierced to form the rivet holes. This end of the piece is split in two to accomodate the leather strap. The object is decorated with a single incised collar at the point the split top coverges, there is then an undecorated band approximately 10mm in length before a second collar. Below this there is an incised X on the rounded terminal. The reverse of the piece is undecorated.
