A complete Post-Medieval to Modern cast copper-alloy cup weight belonging to a nested set c.AD 1500 - 1700.
Description: This weight is circular in plan. Its sides flare evenly upwards from the base to form a slight rim. There are no visible stamps or markings. The base of the weight is slightly concave in the centre.
Dimensions: Diameter 26.87mm, thickness 3.99mm and weight 11.71g.
Discussion: These types of weights were used for weighing gold and silver in the form of coin, small objects or as scrap metal and other precious materials (Saunders 2001, 125).
