A copper alloy sewing ring or topless thimble of post-medieval date. The object is circular in plan and conical tapering inwards towards the top. It has four rows of vertical pits which are unevenly spaced.
The object has been coated in oil thereby obscuring the patina and potentially causing damage.

The sewing ring dates to the Medieval to post-Medieval, c. AD 1450-1550, (Holmes 1988 Sewing Thimbles. Finds Research Group Datasheet 9. Finds Research Group 700-1700, Norwich: 2, fig.4).
