An incomplete early Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill brooch, c.f. Mackreth 2011, Part 3, Group 4a-b, Plate 46. Date c. AD75-100). The has semi-cylindrical pronounced wing caps. The axis bar, spring and pin are missing. At the centre of the wings is a broken integral hook. The head is hump-like in profile and is decorated with a rope-like line down the centre. The bow is D-shape in section and tapers to the break.
