Copper alloy unidentified object fragment. A cast and apparently asymmetrical fitting comprising the stubs of two oval loops of different sizes but set in the same plane, and possibly with the space for a third. The loops abutt each other. This might be part of a light strap fitting or strap union. There is no indication of grooves or other features to retain lenses, as otherwise this configuration might be appropriate to a pinc-nez or to spectacles -known from the late medieval period as a reading aid. The object has a display face on which the springing of the two or three loops is distinguished, and a flat back which is featureless. Suggested date: Medieval, 1250-1500.
