Copper alloy buckle. Cast asymmetrical double looped buckle frame with a rounded outer edge and a straight inner end. The outer edge has the stubs of a further small diameter 7.8mm] loop projecting, while the inner edge has a neatly incised line at its centre. A separate forked copper alloy chape is wrapped around the middle or strap bar. The separate spindle mounted chape is typically a feature of later 17th to early 18th-century buckles, though the asymmetrical form of the frame has a broader date range, and the chape here utilises the frame as its seat. The frame is bent outwards slightly from the central bar. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1660-1700.
