Late Saxon copper alloy stirrup-strap mount, Williams Class A, Type 1. Sub-triangular or pentagonal, with twin rivet-holes above flange on reverse, two pointed knops on both sides, with two more flanking the rounded perforated lug at the apex. Very worn and corroded remains of engraved decoration depicting an interlaced beast. Height 47mm. Width 32.5mm. 2.5mm thick. Weighs 17.35g. 11th century.
