A complete copper-alloy toy cannon dating from the late post medieval and early modern period (c. 1700-c. 1850).
The toy is described as if it were a functioning cannon: The barrel tapers in diameter from the cascabel button to the muzzle. The cascabel button is circular in plan and a circular vent hole is present. The two trunnions are circular in cross-section. They project from a collar midway along the barrel. The trunnions sat in the top of the cheeks of the gun carriage and enabled the piece to be elevated. There are two reinforcing collars beyond the trunnions. The muzzle is plain and flat at the end.
The terminology used in this description has been taken from Blackmore, H. L. 1976. 216.
