A Roman ceramic rim sherd, from a large storage vessel with an everted rim. A very hard fired, wheel thrown, sand tempered fabric, with a slightly laminar structure. Pale grey/buff in colour. The temper includes frequent micaous flecks, very abundant sub-rounded to sub-angular black shale and translucent quartz, <1mm, as well as relatively frequent ferrous inclusions, <1mm. There is a slight ridge underneath the everted rim.
