A medieval lead ampulla dating to c AD 1350-1530. The ampulla is complete, although worn and flattened. The ampulla comprises a small vessel in the shape of a flask with a globular section at the bottom, a long broad neck and handles at either side where the bottom joins the neck. The front of the flask is decorated with a four petal flower with a midrib and diagonal veins out to the edge of the petal. In the centre there are a number of pellets. On the back is a crown with a double band, with diagonal hatching, topped by a central lis, a triangular spear point on either side and probably side fleurs. The lining of the crown is cross hatched. The ampulla weighs 48.67g and measures 51.24mm in length, 32.05mm in width and 5.06mm in thickness.
