A complete cast copper alloy Late Iron Age one-piece brooch dating to the first century AD. The brooch is a La Tene III Nauheim derivative type, with long thin bow that tapers to a sharp pont at the foot, the reversse of which forms the long catchplate. The head of the brooch has sharply narrowing shoulders which turn in to the rolled spring of four coils, before straightening out and tapering in to the pin shank. The front of the brooch has a crude attempt at beading, with a single vertical line over-scored by multiple short horizontally alligned score runng down to just over half of the bow's length. Three poorly arranged transverse scores separate the decorated bow with the plain lower section and foot.
Similar examples are illustrated in Hattatt (2007) nos. 736, 738. Mackreth (2012) also illustrates similar with nos. 3960 and 3985. They date from c. AD 20-70.
