An incomplete lead-alloy lid, possibly from a toy box, of medieval date, c.AD 1200 - 1400. The object is sub-rectangular with damage and wear to the edges. The upper surface is decorated with a six-petal flower, at the centre of which sits an integral raised spherical handle. A decorative border is also present though the wear makes the exact design difficult to determine. A raised central circular element is present to the reverse of the objects, suggesting it may have been designed to slot into a larger piece. This element is however also decorated with a six-petal flower, smaller than that on the upper surface.
The metal has a mid-grey patina and is worn. The object is 43.8mm long, 37.9mm wide, 8.8mm thick and weighs 27.4g.
