A cast copper-alloy zoomorphic duck figurine, possibly a vessel mount dating to the Roman period. The body is convex and sub-oval with a blunt area at the rear where a possible upturned tail has been lost. The head sits in an upright position above the body with a small beak which shows signs of abrasion. Linear incised grooves on the upper part of the body and breast area are probably intended to depict feathers, other details on the head have been lost due to wear or corrosion. On the underside of the body, slightly off centre and closer to the tail end, there is a circular cross sectioned integral iron stud which may be the remains of a shaft, loop or spigot. Iron staining surrounds this feature. The object is corroded with traces of a dark green patina.
