Probably a mount for a Roman military fitting, for example decorative bronze disc-shaped phalera, an apron mount or baldric mount - see Appels & Laycock (2007) p.86 (AA9.12), p.87 (AA9.18), p.112 (AA13.8). This mount is likely to date to the first or second century AD but the possibility remains that it might be mnore modern.
