An incomplete cast copper-alloy double-looped buckle of Post-Medieval date (c. AD 1550 - 1650). The fragment is approximately 25% of a double looped frame and is irregular in plan. The pin, central bar and second loop has been lost completely. The frame has cast rounded knops on the outer edge of the loop, which is decorated with a possible rosette, now very worn. One of the broken edges terminates in two protruding pellets which would have formed part of the decoration where the central bar met the outer frame. The reverse has no visible decoration. The frame has dark green surface patina.
There are parallels on this database, such as from Newport, Telford and Wrekin (HESH-4FD3A4) and from Cockshutt, Shropshire (HESH-0EFE7D).
The buckle fragment measures 36.5mm in length, 22.2mm in width, the bar is 6.4mm wide at the rosette and the thickness is 2.9mm. It weighs 1.9grams.
