Copper-alloy buckle with gilded integral plate. The frame is circular internally and rather irregular and battered externally, perhaps with its outer edge externally worn. The plate tapers to a narrow projection which is probably a distorted hook. It has two separate copper-alloy knob-headed rivets and a pin hole in which a copper-alloy pin survives. The plate is decorated with a short rectangular panel of zig-zag rocker-arm engraving, through which one of the rivet holes passes. Beyond this, towards the hook, there is a panel with narrowly bevelled edges, then a slightly wider terminal with the second rivet hole cut through. About 42mm long and about 14mm wide.

Compare Whitehead 2003, 32, item no. 177. Probably 13th or 14th century.
