A cast lead object, probably a leather working palm guard. It is tear-drop shaped, and has one flat face, with a convex reverse. The surface is smooth, with a pale buff to green patina.
Similar objects have been identified as Roman escutcheon filling; however, the smooth surface suggests this is more likely to be a palm-guard of medieval to post medieval date.
Weight is 146 g. Length 52 mm, width 34 mm.
