A copper alloy seal matrix of Medieval date, (AD 1250-1450). The object is circular in plan with an oval handle. At the top of the handle is a circular suspension loop with an internal diameter of 3mm. The stem of the handle is decorated with a circumferential collar.
The central motif is a bust facing right when viewed facing the object, and left in the impression. The design is surrounded by a worn inscription which reads S'ROG:DE (;?)(n?)VhACE. This may relate to a personal name. The object has a dark to mid-green patina.

Small heraldic seal matrices gained popularity at the very end of the 12th century in particular the pedestal form itself was particularly popular between c. 1250 - c.1400.
