A small copper alloy cast figure from the top of a pipe tamper of probable 18th century date. The figure is of St George spearing the dragon, the remains of which can be seen curled around the Saint's feet. The lance is held diagonally across George's body but is broken at the tip. Most of the dragon and all of the tamper is missing from old breaks. A number of complete examples have been recorded on this database, for example HAMP-7F7E70, ESS-FE21B0 and LANCUM-F1201D. The surface has a rough brown/green patina.
