a pointed oval (vesica-shaped) seal matrix, damaged (bottom right-hand corner of face, including point absent) meaning that some of the legend is missing. Back has a design of a slender fleur-de-lys with two curving falls and three uprights above. The base of the fleur is the top of the matrix when judged by the legend; a small suspension loop at the top of the matrix, bottom of the fleur, is broken. Device of a "trident" with prongs consisting of one vertical and the others at 45 degrees either side of it; a crescent joins all three points. At the opposite end, a short cross-piece is at the bottom of the shaft; the whole may be intended for a hay-rake? An uneven line separates the device area from the legend.
Notes:
Letters are quite large, but relatively tidy - possibly early 13th c. Owner could be male or female: the Christian name might be a shortened for of Alissaundre (Alexander) but it is equally likely that it is a female name such as Alis (Alice, Alison).
