An incomplete copper alloy medieval single loop buckle dating to the period ADc.1350-1450.
As well as being D in shape, the loop of the buckle is D shape in cross section, with bevelled edges and a knop on the far edge. The pin is complete. The buckle plate is formed of a sheet of copper-alloy which has been wrapped around the pin bar with a recess to hold the pin. This sheet has one rivet, which is located at the distal end of the sheet and can be clearly seen through both sheets of copper alloy. To the reverse the sheet is narrower and shorter.
The length of the buckle is 32.22mm in length, 8.8mm in width (strap) and 4.35mm thickness. The diameter of the buckle frame is 14.85mm, and the weight is 1.93g.
