An incomplete cast copper alloy two piece mount, dating to the medieval period AD 1250-1400
The strap end is bent and broadly triangular tapering to the tip. It is formed from a single sheet of copper-alloy which has been folded in half. Above the fold is a circular perforation which would have held a rivet that is now missing. The sheet has become detatched, the break is located at the perforation. Two further perforations are visible on the strap end, the first is located at the tip and contains a copper-alloy rivet. A larger perforation is located above the centre of the strap end and the rivet is missing.
The front face is decorated with horizontal and transverse incisions.
The height of the mount is 29.53mm, the width is 10.69mm, the thickness is 1.31mm and the weight is 1.98g.
