A flint core made on a broken fragment of a ground and polished axehead. The object utilises the fore-section (cutting edge) of the axehead, originally with a lenticular cross-section, faceted edges and curved cutting edge. Part of a steeply angled cross-body break remains visible. The fragment has been steeply re-flaked by removal of broad flakes along one edge and part of the other edge to form a keeled core edge. The flint is light grey and mottled and has a mid-gloss patina. A number of red-brown ferrous stains are present, most from agricultural plough scrapes.
