Post Medieval cast copper alloy pot foot and part of the leg dating to AD 1500-1700. The leg and foot are D-shaped in section with a flat back and convex front; the leg is broken off above a transverse collar with an old break. The remaining section of leg has traces of ribs running vertically down it and these are are more prominent on the foot with six visible. The prominent collar is rounded in section. The base of the foot is slightlyrounded. The piece is now is 47.1mm long, 26.8mm wide and 16.9mm thick; it weighs 97.63 grams.
Crudely made cast copper alloy vessels were widely used from c.1200-1700 for serving and cooking. Butler et al (2009:4) suggest there were four main types of leg used. This is a Type C which they suggest was already in use by the late 16th centur and almost universal in the 17th.
