Post Medieval lead trade weight bearing the marks of Charles I (1625-1649) and the City of Norwich. The weight is discoidal and bears two, deep stamp impressions, one being a crowned 'CR' and the other a castle with two towers, a gate and a crenulated battlement, the arms of Norwich. Through the face of the weight are two holes, one 2.5mm in diameter set within a 6.0mm diameter raised pad, the other being rectangular, 3.5 x 1.5mm from which it tapers. On the top face are two vertically sided recesses, both oval, 4.5 x 4.0mm x 2.0mm deep. Diameter 34.9mm, Thickness 6.5mm, Mass 54.47g (1.94 ounces).
A similarly marked weight is shown by Margeson (1993, Fig. 157, No. 1584), this, however bears the arms Norwich and the CIIR cypher of Charles II.
