Copper alloy strap fitting. Cast sub-rectangular plate with an integrally cast oval loop at one end. The back of the plate, which is slightly rough as if never intended to be viewed, bears a worn rib along either side, with a small spur or stop at its end on one side. The form is not diagnostic and there is no decoration, but accompanying objects, including a decorated strap fitting of essentially similar form, are ascribed to the Anglo-Scandinavian period. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 850-1000.
