An incomplete silver late post medieval spur rowel. The spur rowel consists of one complete arm, one worn arm and the neck. The neck curves slightly and widens, with a central split to hold the missing rowel. Either side of the split is a rounded knop. The complete arm is triangular is shape, narrowing towards the opposite end of the rowel attachment. There are two circular loops at this end, with an incomplete looped attachment for the spur. This is triangular in shape, with two knops at the loop end. It then widens to a rivet hole, of which only half now remains. The break is worn. Only half of the other spur arm remains, both arms are semi circular in cross section. The spur rowel is a silver grey colour, and measures 69.7mm in height, 52.9mm in width, and 29.6g in weight.
Based on similar examples on the database, this spur rowel has been dated to the late post medieval period - BH-884956, ESS-B637A5, LVPL-ECE690. Although this object is made of silver it is difficult to know for certain whether it is older than 300 years. Therefore, it has not been considered as Treasure under the Treasure Act 1996.
