Copper alloy two soldi (gazzetta) of the Venetian Republic for territories in Dalmatia and Albania, dating from 1691-1710.
The Provveditore generale (Governor-general) was the official name of Venetian state officials supervising Dalmatia. The Governors of Dalmatia were based in Zara, while they were under direct supervision of the "Provveditore Generale dello Stato da Mar", who was based in Corfu and was directly controlled by the Doge in Venice.
Alvise Mocenigo III was Governor of Dalmatia from 1696 to 1702 and it might have been minted during his term of office.
