Copper alloy seal matrix. Cast discoid matrix with engraved face and the stubs of a suspension loop at the end of a low rib on the back. The central motif may represent a quadruped, or possibly a hanging fleece; other figurative schemes might be suggested. The worn circumferential legend defies interpretation, but appears to include: [--]D [-] O V [-] E C R. Abraded. Suggested date: Medieval, 1250-1350.
