An incomplete copper alloy dress hook or hooked tag dating to the early post medieval period, Class E, type 3 dating from 1500-1550. The main body of the hooked tag is circular shaped and convex on the front of the plate, the central part being domed. It is decorated with moulded relief, possibly a human facing-mask, within a cabled border. A trapezoidal loop projects from above the circular body for attachment, this is slightly bent forwards. On the opposite edge an integral hook projects, the hook has a worn break before the curve. There is no decoration on the reverse, and the centre is concave. The hooked tag has a light green patina with light brown staining, and measures 32.9mm in length, 17.0mm in width, 3.2mm in thickness, and 2.45g in weight.
A possible similar hooked tag can be seen in Read 2008, page 93, number 328.
