An Early Medieval Silver early penny (sceat) of Secondary Phase Series E (variety A) dating to c. AD 720-740. Minted in the Low Countries. Abramson (2006: 86) E140. Similar to Metcalf (1993: Plate 13), nos. 225 & 227 but with extra transverse bar on obverse. North (1994: 61) no. 48.

Obverse description: Quilled crescent terminating in pellet and curving right enclosing four bars, a fifth bar runs perpendicular to these along their end and at its top turns at a right angle and continues off flan.
Obverse inscription: none
Reverse description: Retrograde TOT II within beaded border, one pellet in left, three below and three in right. Downwards pointing chevron visible off centre above along with other pellets out side of the border, but the design is unclear due to being largely off flan.
