A Roman copper alloy suspension item, probably the top of a chatelaine (toilet or cosmetic set hanger), consisting of a single round open loop with large circular perforation at the top below which is a rectangular block arranged veritacally and divided into three collars by transverse grooves. Below the block it widens slightly with a flat rectangular plate the sides of which are extended downwards in rectangular strips with rounded ends and circular piercings through these rounded ends. The holes would once have held a cross bar from which other items would be suspended.
The loop is 7.93mm in diamter, and the whole artefact is 23.87mm in length, with a bar width of 5.10mm, widening to 7.08mm at the lugs. It weighs 2.66g.
It is very similar in form although narrower to LEIC-4EBED6 and NLM5636 and may have held tweezers, toilet spoons etc.
