An incomplete copper-alloy medieval annular buckle dating to AD 1400 - 1500.
The buckle has its central bar, but the pin is missing. It is circular in shape, with a sub-rectangular cross-section. It is rather smooth in texture and holds a green patina with black marks that may be traces of black lacquer.
The buckle is rather small, coming 21.74mm in diameter, 2.40mm thick and weighs 3.02g.
Whitehead (2003) "Buckles 1250-1800" illustrates a very similar buckle p46 no269. This would have been a waist or sword belt buckle.
