A Roman copper alloy plated contemporary copy of a denarius of Severus Alexander (AD 222-235), dating to AD 222-225 (Reece Period 11). [P M TRP ... CO]S P [P], uncertain reverse type, central male figure standing left with a reversed spear right, holding either a thunder bolt (Jupiter) or orb (the emporer). RIC IV, pg 71-74, nos. 5, 19, 35, 44 or 48.

The white metal coating is peeling away in several places revealing al copper alloy core. Although irregular in shape this white metal coating is intact around many of the edges, suggesting the flan was originally irregular with several sections of the design off flan. The flan has been pierced at 10 o'clock on the obverse, this has been done by drilling first from the reverse and then from the obverse, with the hole produced changing direction part way through.
