An incomplete copper alloy single sharp hooked clasp (dress hook), of Early Post Medieval dating (AD 1500 to AD 1600).
Around 95% of the hooked clasp is present, with just the hook incomplete.
The hooked clasp consists of a sub rectangular attachment loop, a circular openwork central plate, with a solid centre, and four circular holes, and a single sharp hook (now incomplete). The back is undecorated.
It measures 32 mm in length, 18 mm wide and 2.75 mm thick. It weighs 2.81 grams.
The hooked clasp is a light green colour, with an even surface patina.
A comparative example have been published as #384 in Read, 2008 (p101) , classified as Early Post Medieval Class E single sharp hooked clasps, Type 3. Read (2008, 87), mentions that all Class E clasps recovered by the Thames Mudlarks have been from secure c. AD 1500 to c. AD 1550 deposits, suggesting a 16th Century date.
