Unique ID: GLO-A7CA95

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

~~An incomplete copper-alloy hooked tag or clothes fastener dating to the early-medieval period (c. 9th century) of Lewis and Naylor's Class Class A1.d.i (lobed). The object has a flat circular plate with two pierced projecting lobes on the top edge. On the bottom edge is a hook that was truncated in antiquity, this has been repaired with a single rivet hole that still retails an iron rivet. The back of this area is encrusted in iron corrosion suggesting that the repaired hook was also made of iron. The face of the plate is decorated with six radiating narrow ovals the maybe petals, each petal has a double transverse line in the centre. running around the outside of the plate is a double band that is filled with a series of closely packed transverse lines creating a beaded effect. All decoration is crudely incised.

It can otherwise be classified as being of Read's Early medieval Class D, Type 1,

Class: Class A1.d.i (lobed)
