Incomplete Late Saxon to medieval copper alloy zoomorphic stirrup terminal dating to the period c. AD 1000 - 1100. C-sectioned with straight sides terminating in an old break at either end. The reverse is hollow and retains traces of an off-white powdery substance probably the remains of solder, with a projecting ledge to support the (missing) iron foot-plate of the stirrup. The front is cast in relief in the form of a stylised and worn animal head (Williams provisional class B or unclassified zoomorphic) with transverse and V-shaped mouldings.
